School Eisteddfod

We had a wonderful Eisteddfod on our return to school. Pupils from every class entertained by performing a range of songs and recitals. In addition, pupils took part in a handwriting and art competition with the winners revealed on the day.

Grandparent’s Lunch

The school has successfully held its 2nd Grandparent’s lunch in school. We were thrilled to invite a group of Grandparent’s to join their grandchildren in school. Huge thanks to the kitchen time in supporting us to achieve this.

Pupils across the school enjoyed participating in a range of book related activities to celebrate World Book Day. They dressed as either a favourite book character or just in comfy clothes to read.

The Welsh Whisperer

The school was thrilled to be joined by Andrew ‘The Welsh Whisperer’ on Friday 7th March. Each class contributed to the writing of our own bilingual Welsh song, which they then performed as part of an entertainment afternoon for parents. A great time was had by all.

Sporting competitions

This Autumn term the children have participated in sporting activities including cross country, a hockey festival and Urdd football. They have all enjoyed these activities and have behaved extremely well.

Open Morning

We were thrilled to welcome parents to the school for an open morning in which we were able to share with parents the progress made regarding our digital development school priority. Pupils were able to show spheros, rugged robots, microbits, lego explore and Adobe Express, among others.

Olympic and Euros Party

The whole school joined together for a celebration afternoon to mark the upcoming Olympic Games and the Euros football competition. The children represented their country of choice and brought in food from these places to share. They had a wonderful afternoon of activities.

We are proud to have made a relationship with Newtown Food Surplus that has seen us recently be able to do a Food share with our families. Not only does this help families but prevents edible food from going to waste.

Ny Ako Visit

The school was thrilled to be visited by Ny Ako, a group from Madagascar. They taught the children all about their country and culture through music, singing, instruments, dance and costumes. The staff and children thorougy enjoyed the experience.

We were thrilled to have a visit from a professional athlete, Alan Bateson. He spoke to the children about his sport and what it takes to be a professional athlete, before leading the children in a sponsored circuit of exercises.

Mother’s Day Tea

We were thrilled to invite our mums, nans, and aunties to celebrate Mother’s Day with us. Our older pupils served teas and coffees, whilst our middle class decorated cakes (cooked by our school kitchen) and our younger pupils presented guests with bunches of daffodils. All children recorded special messages for their mums and sang songs.

The children dressed up for World Book Day in either their comfy reading clothes or as a favourite book character. During the day they took part in buddy reading activities and a Where’s Wally reading hunt/challenge.
